Indalo was launched as a stylish contemporary hair salon in Richmond, London on Thursday 12th February 2004.
Indalo (pronounced in-darr-low) comes from the ancient mystical symbol of the Indalo Man. The original was found painted in ochre in a Neolithic cave in Southern Spain and dates from around 4,000 years B.C. The Indalo Man is a lucky talisman and holds above his head what is believed to be a rainbow. For many years, Spanish villagers painted to symbol above their doorways to drive away storms and evil spirits (similar to horseshoes in Britain). According to custom, to give someone an Indalo is to bring them good luck and happiness.
